April Lopez, LBSW-IPR-S is an approved supervisor by the Board of Social Work Examiners.
Unfortunately, no new supervisees are being accepted at this time. Please refer to the BHEC website under find a supervisor for additional options.
The benefit of obtaining your Independent Practice Recognition is to be able to be your own boss and own your own social work practice or contract directly with agencies to conduct non-clinical work such as case management or adoption home studies. You must be a Licensed Bachelor Social Worker and work for an agency in a non-clinical role conducting social work during supervision for the hours to count. One hour of supervision per 30 hours of work is required with a minimum of 100 supervision hours with 3000 supervised hours worked before applying for Independent Practice Recognition.
From the Board of Social Work Examiners, an LBSW recognized for independent practice, known as LBSW-IPR, may provide any non-clinical baccalaureate social work services in either an employment or an independent practice setting. An LBSW-IPR may work under contract, bill directly for services, and bill third parties for reimbursements for services. An LBSW-IPR must restrict his or her independent practice to providing non-clinical social work services.
Supervision rules are stated in 781.402 and 781.403 of the
