This agency grew out of a commitment to making high quality, respectful services available and delivered with integrity and your best interest at the heart of the services. This is why we come to you in your home, at your doctor's office or to meetings at your child's school instead of having you come to an office.
The director, April Lopez, LBSW-IPR-S, has had a heart for making a difference in the lives of children and families even before graduating from the University of Texas School of Social Work in 2002. She has been working in the adoption field for over 14 years and has been providing medical case management and school advocacy since 2005. April is currently an instructor of employment services in the ACC STEPS program and works as a social worker for the Dell Children's Mental Health Unit.
April was blessed to have many mentors guide her professional career to the opening of April Lopez and Associates on December 7, 2015. At April Lopez and Associates, she will continue to work independently to complete adoption home studies and would like to pay forward the incredible affordable supervision she received from Robyn Gobbel, LCSW while obtaining her Independent Practice Recognition (IPR).
We have an underlying belief that you are the expert on your family. We will educate you about what your options are for overcoming barriers and guide you to resources to enhance your ability to meet your family's needs but ultimately respect your right to choose your path. Engagement in services is voluntary so it is okay for you to say exactly what you want and need and we will not pressure you to take action in areas you are not yet ready for. The plan of action for every individual is different depending on your lead. Our goal is to partner with you as you embrace your power to bring about change for your family.
